APTITUDE (Advanced Project for Trusted Identity Technologies and Unified Digital Ecosystem) builds on the insights of the previous LSPs NOBID, DC4EU, POTENTIAL and EWC, marking a key step toward aligning the European Union with the ambitions of the Digital Decade.
The project aims to simplify, secure, and accelerate citizens' everyday lives by enabling a single digital identity for multiple applications. Through real-life pilot use cases (Digital Travel Credentials, Ticketing & Check-in, Mobile Vehicle Registration Certificate, and Payments & Banking) the project will test the European Digital Identity Framework in key areas such as travel, transportation and financial services. Citizens will be able to travel and check in using digital credentials instead of physical documents, make secure electronic and physical payments with strong authentication, and access services such as banking, vehicle registration, and transportation seamlessly, all while maintaining full control over their personal data.
A central pillar of the project is ensuring that the Digital Identity Wallet remains human-centric, secure, interoperable, and fully compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), giving citizens full control over their personal data while ensuring the highest privacy and security standards.
Our role
R&D Spain contributes to two project areas:
- WP2 Technical Standards and Specifications, which involves tasks related to standards and profile specifications, trust frameworks, technical components, and pilot support.
- WP4 Tickets and check in scenario, participating in tasks concerning stock taking and specifications, implementation support and piloting.
Eviden has extensive experience with European Large Scale Pilots such as DE4A and DC4EU, working towards the development of European wallets, and brings this expertise to current LSP APTITUDE, which is part of the second wave of EUDI Wallet Large Scale Pilots.
APTITUDE provides an opportunity to further test the conformance of R&D Spain IMP Team’s uSelf Self-Sovereign Identity solution suite, using EU-wide interoperability test beds and wallet conformance playgrounds.
This allows us to keep aligned with the latest EUDI Wallet Technical Specifications and build synergies with new initiatives, such as the recently published proposal for European Business Wallet (EUBW) regulation. The results will be made available to Eviden’s High Performance Computing business lines through our Strategy & Innovation activities, in close collaboration with the CTO team, to assess opportunities around emerging demand and high-value business cases in the EUDI Wallet ecosystem-.
This ecosystem is entering a critical deployment phase in all EU member states by the end of 2026 to make the wallets available to citizens and businesses.
